wave Quality of Services

From experience developing mobile trading applications for the Financial Services industry, which requires extremely high levels of performance, reliability and transaction integrity, weComm determined that standard Internet Protocols were insufficient to meet these requirements over wireless networks.

TCP/IP, which most mobile applications depend on, is optimised for a fixed network and does not manage the intermittency and variability found in wireless signals. The result is consistently poor user experience as is extremely common with most mobile data services today.

quality of service

weComm's Mobile Transport Protocol (MTP) addresses these problems by building a reliable transport layer over UDP/IP that constantly monitors each user's network connection at their device and sends information about individual connection quality back to the wave Quality Gateway™ server.

This allows MTP to adjust to temporary disconnections, bandwidth and latency fluctuations, and changes in IP address across different networks whilst maintaining the best performance possible on the network.

MTP makes all of this Quality-of-Service data available to the wave Publisher™ and wave Streaming Gateway™ so that any aspect of a service, from the content to the application structure itself, may be adjusted to match the performance characteristics of the available network connection.

Quality-based services adjustments can occur in real-time in response to changes to performance during the lifetime of a connection session and are just one of a number of parameters that can be specified to affect user experience by the wave Studio™ suite.
